Creating Cycling Transit Lanes for Commuting

Being an avid cyclist and observing the need for affordable, convenient, fuel and clean fuel efficient transportation for commuting and leisure. I am an advocate for the implementation of city wide cycling community transit lanes across and throughout Los Angeles, CA.

The access to other cities within the metro area, (i.e. other than just Santa Monica, CA as an example) would allow people to commute by cycling each day to and from work across and throughout the entire city and not be impeded, rather than just certain sections.

I am therefore advocating for the Mayor of LA, (similar to the model that was setup in Chicago, IL, Portland, Denver, CO and Minneapolis, MN) to setup a county transportation commission to investigate and fund the creation of cycling transit lanes across the entire metropolitan area of Los Angeles, CA.

I have 3 favorite websites that i visit on a regular basis:

1. http://www.bikecommuters.com/

The intended audience here is for current and future cycling commuters and for leisure and health in providing for valuable information that can be used to improve their cycling commuting experience and generating community. Such as what to buy to become a cycling commuter? How to improve safety, where to ride and how to create community, et al.?

2.http://blog.oregonlive.com/commuting/2011/12/how_bike_portland_and_other_we.html

The intended audience is for LA city planners, mayoral advisors and committees in providing ideas and processes to define how to go about setting up, funding and creating and building a metro-wide cycling, (for both commuting and leisure) community and associated trail systems.

3. http://www.bicyclinglife.com/PracticalCycling/commuteguide.htm

The intended audience is for current or future cycling commuters and for leisure, in developing safe and convenient routes, where to ride and how to execute a cycling commute. This would be a site were all cyclists could generate a convenient route, using, websites, such as, www.mapmyride.com and created cycling byways metropolian wide across LA County. This is similar to what has been created in Denver, CO and Portland, OR, et al. The operative point here, is that this site, would be designed for LA county metropolitan wide and not just for Santa Monica or Venice, et al.
